Pablo Fontana

Pablo Fontana, Instituto Antártico Argentino

Pablo Fontana has a PhD in History from the University of Buenos Aires. He is a researcher at the Argentine Antarctic Institute, where he leads the Humanities and Social Sciences Department. In this area his research is focused on the XX Century antarctic history. In addition, he is organizing a new photographic, film and oral history archive as part of a project about Argentine antarctic memory. His work also includes field work with historical remains, sites and monuments in Antarctica at Argentine stations and camps. Fontana received scholarships from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICET) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). He has presented papers at various international academic events and published the book La pugna antártica: el conflicto por el sexto continente (1939-1959).
